Our Vision, Our Mission, Our Calling
Our mission at Zion Evangelical Lutheran United Church of Christ is:
To worship and glorify God;
To preach, teach, and bear witness to the gospel of Jesus Christ;
To celebrate the Sacraments;
To realize Christian fellowship and unity within this congregation and the Church Universal;
To render loving service toward humankind; and
To strive for righteousness, justice and peace.
Zion Evangelical Lutheran U.C.C. is built on 151 years of Christian values and family-centered tradition. We are seeking a spiritual leader who will guide our involvement in the U.C.C., while respecting our church’s more traditional roots. Our congregation wants to find a balance between traditional and more contemporary programming, which appeals to a broader demographic of members who would offer new ideas, energy and resources to help us more widely serve the Lord. We are seeking a pastor who will collaborate with support staff, lay leadership and members in a ¾ time position, with a schedule of 30-35 hours per week. Consideration will also be given for ½ time employment to provide added candidate flexibility. Our chosen candidate will have a proven understanding of how to plan, guide and support efforts focused on membership growth, congregational care, long-term strategic planning, stewardship and community outreach., with experience at either the Sr. Pastor or Associate level. Our congregation needs a Pastor who reenergizes members through weekly worship, encourages and involves our youth, and helps us to meet the congregational care and visitation needs for our older members. We offer our chosen candidate the opportunity to thrive in a supportive and compassionate environment, with strong lay leadership and a faithful membership base who are looking for opportunities to reinvigorate our congregation and grow our ability to positively impact the community around us.
